The sound installation draws inspiration from hacker-culture, social engineering and phishing. It uses techniques of data sonification, ML audio models and generative sound. The ambient soundscape consists of sounds created by multiple machine learning models that were input with sounds from early acoustic modems, c-64 loading sounds, packet radio transmissions and electro-magnetic noises of modern data-networks. It creates retro-futuristic background ambience for the phishing messages that are read both by AI driven speech synthesizer and voice actors, playing with the effect of auditory uncanny-valley and glitch.

Ville MJ Hyvönen is audio-visual artist and designer based in Helsinki, Finland. His background is in the 90’s Amiga -scene, and is one of the founders of the legendary demo group CNCD. Since then he has done international career in theatre, media-art and cinema, working together with artist like Jon Hopkins, Holly Herndon, Kristian Smeds, Terike Haapoja, Maija Vilkkumaa, Atelje Sotamaa, and having his work, installations and performances exhibited in UK, Japan, Germany, Sweden and in USA and events and venues like Burning man, Berlin HKW, Mains d'Œuvres, Paris, Kiasma, Helsinki, Fylkingen, Stockholm.
